Chair Massage

Adam

Towards the end of the 2000"s, Adam started getting a stabbing pain in the right side of his mid-back that would wake him up at night. After years of chronic headaches, back and wrist pain, anxiety and depression, it was the wake-up call that he needed to start taking care of himself. He quit smoking and drinking, started eating better, began meditating and practicing yoga everyday, and found support for his particular set of issues pertaining to his family of origin stuff.

About a year into his healing journey of self-discovery, Adam noticed that there seemed to be a kinship between massage and yoga. Since he was loving his yoga practice and also looking for a career change, he wondered if he would like being a massage therapist. By the beginning of 2015 he began the 640 hour program at the Oregon School of Massage.

During the massage, Adam will communicate with you about your goals and tailor the session to meet them as effectively and realistically as possible. In his sessions, he tends to lead with myofascial release, which he feels is the most effective tool to free restrictions and increase range of motion, thereby reducing pain. His work tends to be slow and deliberate, which many people find to be soothing. He also uses deep tissue techniques, and you can almost always expect to receive some relaxing Swedish massage; because massage should feel good!

Utilizing the natural rhythm of your breath, he finds the tight places and coaxes them into release. Since meeting his mentor in both Forrest Yoga and Bodyworker in 2005, Jonathan has done trainings in Thai Massage (30Hr 2007) Shiatsu (300HR 2009) and has had on ongoing apprenticeship with Deep Tissue and Myo-fascial Release (2005)

Chair Massage

Joey

Joey has had a very diverse massage career expanding the fourteen years since he got his massage license from East West College of the healing arts.  Initially he found himself in the spa and relaxation area.  He worked for spas on the Oregon Coast, Portland, and the casinos in Las Vegas Nevada.  He considers his time in the relaxation field of massage to be very rewarding but ultimately his destiny was in rehabilitation.  This is where his true talent made itself known to him, relieving the pain of others.

Joey's path in rehabilitation got its start in chiropractors offices working with car accident and personal injury victims.  This was a tremendous personal discovery, and he found great satisfaction in working with patients. He discovered that he had a real knack for solving problems and a stamina for very deep tissue massage.  He also discovered the preventive nature of massage therapy.  This led him to getting his higher education in preventive medicine and melding the worlds of rehabilitative massage and global health.   With the marriage of these two worlds, he has taken his career all over the world.  From rehabilitating AIDS patients in Cape Town South Africa, to his most recent trip to Bosnia, where he had the honor of helping to rehabilitate the concentration camp survivors of the "Siege of Sarajevo" in 1992.

Joey feels it is hard to say where massage will take him next, as so many people in the world do not have access to the novelties of massage. All he knows is it will be equal parts adventure and massage.

Chair Massage

Shawn K.

Shawn Kinsella"s calling to work as a healer isn"t merely professional; he knows healing because he"s lived it. As a licensed massage therapist, since 2007, and nutritional therapist, since 2010, he understands intimately the challenges and joys of making the changes necessary to live a life with health and balance, because he"s gone through them himself. His greatest feeling of reward comes when he sees evidence of change in his clients – and when they notice it, too. For some, it might be a change in posture; for others, recovery from injury, or more energy and a greater ability to deal with life"s stressors. For Shawn, it boils down to a simple practice: bringing a fresh perspective to the origins of physical troubles, listening to feedback, suggesting lifestyle changes to enhance health and providing encouragement to make those changes.
