Massage and DNA

By Ed Rich - April 18, 2016

Recent studies show that a mechanism in which massage is beneficial is its ability to turn on and off genes. Mark Tarnolpolsky, a neurometabolic researcher at McMaster University conducted an experiment, in which the end results showed a decrease in the expression of the gene responsible for inflammation and an increase in the expression of the gene that promotes faster healing. This gives us a "have your cake and eat it too" scenario with post workout healing. Using chair massage after an athletic event is a perfect way to incorporate these healing benefits.
